HUMANE SOCIETY SEIZES 5 HORSES FROM PROPERTY IN FOUNTAIN
click to donate towards their care On July 1st, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region executed a warrant and seized 5 horses from two different parties sharing a property in Fountain. There were a total of 3 adult horses and 2 foals in poor condition. Responding to a call from someone concerned about the wellbeing of the horses, the Humane Society’s animal welfare officers investigated and found the horses malnourished and neglected, with several noticeable wounds. Although the owners concluded that it was in the best interest of the horses to be signed over to the Humane Society, cruelty charges have been filed. Two of the horses are still at the Humane Society’s stables, undergoing treatment by a veterinarian. Citizens who would like to support the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region’s efforts to care for the horses can do so by donating here or by visiting the shelter located at 610 Abbott Lane in Colorado Springs.
